What is Eucharistic Adoration?

Eucharistic Adoration is prayer before Jesus Christ truly present in the consecrated Host, reserved in the tabernacle or exposed in the monstrance.

What do I do when I enter?

  1. 1

    Enter quietly.

  2. 2

If the Blessed Sacrament is exposed and you are able, genuflect.

Bend one knee toward the floor, make the Sign of the Cross, then rise.

  3. 3

    Choose a place.

  4. 4

    Sit or kneel.

  5. 5

Make the Sign of the Cross.

  6. 6

Say simply: Jesus, I am here.

That is enough. You do not need more words.

What if I feel awkward?

No one in the chapel is watching you. Every person there is learning the same lesson: how to look at Jesus instead of themselves.

What if I feel nothing?

Feeling is not the measure. He is just as present when you feel nothing as when your heart burns.

What if my mind wanders?

Distraction is normal. Every time you gently return your attention to Jesus, that return can become an act of love.

Choose a visit

Start small. The length matters less than the intention.
